Julija Pustovrh is a Slovenian born artist and ceramicist living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Julija's background is in Landscape Architecture, though after graduating from Edinburgh College of Arts in summer 2014, she launched a small independent arts and design business called EmporiumJulium. Working with paper /linocut, wood, glass, and textile, she finally settled on clay as her medium. In 2017, she was part of the inaugural generation of members at the Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop, as well as later becoming a teacher and chief technician there in 2019. Since 2020, she has an independent practice at Abbeymount Studios in Edinburgh. In her work, Julija is exploring different ceramic materials looking at patterns, forms and textures in micro and macro scales. Her current collection is entitles Sandscape - incorporating sand from remote parts of Scotland, which she collected during her travels. She is making functional and decorative tableware in clean minimalist form, using the natural appearance of clay and sand as a way to convey the dynamism unique to Scottish landscapes. Her work is stocked in specialist boutiques and galleries in Scotland and around the world, as well as featuring in exhibitions of contemporary ceramics. . You can support her on Patreon. |
